Where is Beechworth?

Beechworth is in the beautiful hills and High Country region of North East Victoria and is a very easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne straight up the Hume Highway. Beechworth is centrally located in the NE with Wangaratta, Benalla, Albury/Wodonga and Myrtleford all within cooee. The turn off is well signposted regardless of which direction you’re coming from.

How much are the tickets?

We have considered the cost of the tickets very carefully while planning the Beechworth Music Festival and have tried very hard to keep them as low as possible. We think that considering the great line up we curate each year that the price of the tickets presents fantastic value for money.

Where can I stay if I’d rather not camp at the BMF site?

There are a multitude of motels, hotels, B&B’s, great caravan parks or other self contained holiday accommodation. Check out the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre or go to beechworth.com for lots of options. Be mindful that the Beechworth Music Festival is on a long weekend and you should book early to avoid missing out.

Can I camp for more than one night at the BMF site?

Yes – we are now able to offer two nights of free camping from Friday night through to the Sunday morning of BMF. You can arrive anytime from 3pm Friday and should leave the site by around midday Sunday. There is some light entertainment and refreshments provided by locals available on the Friday evening before a big day of music on Saturday.

Is BMF kid friendly?

Yes – families with kids are very welcome at Beechworth Music Festival – Kids under 5 are free! There’s heaps of room in the campground to spread out and we have an area for kids with shade, seats, some fun things to do and a jumping castle. Please consider the time of year, the weather, the loud music and provide them with sun protection and ear muffs (if you take them close to the stage). Sunscreen is also available at the Info Centre. Please remember – supervision of your children is your responsibility!

Are there any ATM’s or Eftpos facilities on site at BMF?

There are no ATM’s on site so make sure you cash up before you come. There are also a few ATM’s in Beechworth. Some vendors do have eftpos facilities available but be prepared for either option as the internet is sometimes inconsistent.

Is there any BMF Merch available?

Yes – we have a range of clothing, caps, stubbie holders and tea towels available on site and via our online shop.

If I stay in Beechworth and don’t want to drive to the festival site, how far is it and how can I get there?

The Madman’s Gully Amphitheatre and Mayday Hills is a little over 1km from the very centre of Beechworth. Beechworth Taxis provide an excellent service right here in town – for direct bookings phone: 0417 022 070

Where can I go to eat in Beechworth?

Beechworth is well known for its gourmet produce and great variety of places to visit and eat so why not stay a few more days and indulge in some of the regions finest produce, award winning wines and craft beers. The Empire Hotel, The Beechworth Bakery and Bridge Road Brewers are some of the more well known eating houses but there are also some fabulous cafés, coffee houses, restaurants, hotels and wineries offering a great range of sustenance for hungry visitors and travellers.

What else can I do while visiting Beechworth?

Beechworth and the whole North East region has something for everyone. Once a thriving gold rush town producing some of the richest diggings in Victoria, and the stamping ground of some famous highwaymen and bushrangers, Beechworth has one of Victoria’s best preserved 19th century streetscapes.  While you’re here check out Beechworth’s Historic and Cultural Precinct by visiting the award winning Burke Museum, the Ned Kelly Vault (includes Sydney Nolan’s last painting of Ned Kelly), the Beechworth Courthouse & Telegraph Station or soak them all up with a guided town walk.

  • Walk our lovely Chinese Gardens and take in some cultural history by visiting the Chinese Burning Towers at the Beechworth Cemetery
  • Visit the spiritual and ceremonial Yeddonba Aboriginal Art site at Mount pilot and learn more about the local indigenous clans. The faded but very significant paintings of a Tasmanian Tiger, a Goanna and a Snake are well over 2000 years old
  • Cycle the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail or go mountain biking at the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park.
